Band Camp 2011

Dear Band,

Welcome to the new school year! We are looking forward to another exciting school year. As you know our contest show needs a name! Right now it’s “Prisms of Light”, if you have any other ideas for a name, let me know during band camp. The drill looks great and the final adjustments to the music are being made. If you have any ideas for a shirt design, bring a sketch to band camp.

As you know, in order to be properly prepared for the marching season, the band must start rehearsals Monday, August 8. Please wear comfortable, cool clothes and tennis shoes with socks to camp. Please read the following information carefully.

Aug. 8-11 Mon-Thurs 8:30-12:00 Horn line (WW and Brass)

Aug. 8-11 Mon-Thurs 10:00-1:00 Battery Percussion

Aug. 8,9,11 Mon-Tu-Thurs4:00-7:00 p.m. Color Guard

Aug. 12 Friday 8:30-1:00 All groups together

As usual, early morning practice will be Tuesday through Friday at 7:00 a.m. during the marching season. These practices will start Thursday, August 18. Band uniform check out will be the week of August 15. Times will be announced during camp.

We realize that there could be a conflict with other school organizations regarding band camp. If there is a conflict, let us know as soon as possible so conflicts can be resolved and alternative lesson times can be arranged. There is always a dramatic difference in skill level between the ones who attend band camp and the ones who cannot.

Please do not underestimate the importance of YOU attending band camp. I firmly believe band camp is a good indicator of the success you will enjoy during the marching season. If you know of anyone who has moved to Glenpool this summer, bring them with you to camp! REMEMBER! YOU are the best recruitment person for the band. Band is not limited to only a few people but to anyone who is wiling to work hard and have a good time.
